Standing Out in a Crowded Field: Improving Off-page SEO for a University

A prestigious institution in the state of Missouri was struggling to improve its online presence. Due to Google’s frequent updates, many niches, particularly the education sector, are suffering from the challenge of enhancing their SEO. Moreover, it is increasingly daunting for your website to make an SEO impact, given the intense competition in the education sector. As a result of resource constraints, the university had difficulty managing off-page SEO as its main focus remained on-page and technical SEO. Background

Our client primarily wanted to increase its online visibility and organic traffic within a very short span of time. Moreover, the university wanted to take its off-page SEO to the next level. While the university was spending time on its SEO due to a lack of constraints, it wasn’t able to devote enough time to its off-page SEO. This presented team LBHQ with the challenge of generating more than 200 backlinks from high DA websites over the course of 11 months. Now, this was an arduous task, but our team was totally up for it.    

The Master Plan

Now link building in the education niche gets a little tricky because you have to find content relevance with the website you want to link with. However, we established an expansive strategy that covered multiple facets of SEO to enhance the online presence of the website.

  • We made a list of relevant high-authority educational websites and publications to make backlinks to the university’s accredited courses. 
  • We also listed the university’s links on different educational directories and research papers in order to establish a strong and diverse backlink profile. 
  • We developed a real-time analytics and reporting system tailored to provide a seamless presentation to our clients’ upper management.

The Results

  • Our team helped the client’s website traffic increase by 28.93% in a matter of months.
  • We helped our client make more than 200 backlinks within 11 months, with 60% of the links acquired from websites with DAs as high as 60. 
  • The website visibility increased by 20.59%. The university was also able to see its number of ranking keywords increase. 7 months into the campaign, there was a 28.26% increase in the website’s keywords in positions 1 to 3, which is considered high based on the competitive niche. On top of that, keywords in positions 4 to 6 showed an increase of 14.71%.
